Who We Are

Baylor University Medical Center

Since 1998, our surgeons have managed most of the acute and complex surgical needs of the community, covering every minute of every day, for twenty-seven years. Urgent Surgery Associates is the largest independent surgical practice in North Texas and takes great pride in our ability to practice clinically and financially unencumbered.

Through our academic partnerships, our practice is deeply invested in clinical education and our providers are integral in training the surgical residents in the DFW area. We are committed to fostering collaborative relationships with our health system partners, ensuring alignment with their strategic objectives, operational priorities, and clinical leadership.

Urgent Surgery Associates is a destination for the most premier surgeons in Texas and we have hand-picked the top clinical experts in critical care, trauma, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, and other surgical specialties.

Trauma Surgery | Surgery Critical Care | Fellow of the American College of Surgeons

Founded in 1988, Urgent Surgery Associates was established by Dr. Michael Foreman and Dr. Matthew Lovitt, both board-certified general surgeons and Fellows of the American College of Surgeons. With deep expertise in trauma surgery and delivery of high acuity care, they have been instrumental in shaping the Trauma and Critical Care programs at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas, a Level I Trauma Center, and Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth. Their leadership and commitment to excellence have set the foundation for the practice’s continued reputation for delivering advanced, patient-centered surgical care while supporting physician autonomy to empower clinical decision-making, fostering personalized, evidence-based treatment that drives optimal outcomes for patients.

All of our physicians are Board Certified in Surgery, most with Advanced Fellowship Training and/or Board Certification in Surgical Critical Care. All have extensive experience in acute general surgery, trauma surgery, and critical care. This gives us special expertise addressing injury to the neck, chest, abdomen and extremities.
